We can’t help falling in love with WordPress year after year. Not only is it the most popular CMS on the market, it is supported by a passionate community of amazing people.

WordPress allows you to build the website of your dreams, and oftentimes, that’s thanks to the wide ecosystem of WordPress plugins that exist for just about anything you could imagine. Plugin developers see a need and fill it. Whether you’re trying to add options for contactless delivery to your website, or spooky spiderwebs for a seasonal promotion, plugins are there to make it happen.

This spring, we’re sharing our love for plugins and the people who create them as part of our seventh-annual Plugin Madness. Each year, Plugin Madness celebrates the WordPress community’s favorite plugins with a week-by-week, bracket-style competition, culminating in a final, Plugin Madness champion.

But we need your help! Highlighting the best WordPress plugins depends on you nominating them, so, if you have a plugin you’re completely devoted to, fill out the form on pluginmadness.com to nominate them now—it only takes a minute!

Nominations are open from February 14 through February 28. You can nominate as many plugins as you want, so don’t be afraid to show your love!

Plugins will be divided into four categories:

  • Marketing
  • Maintenance
  • Optimization
  • eCommerce.

Plugins must be listed in the WordPress repository, updated within the last 12 months, and be compatible with WordPress 5.7+.

Past Plugin Madness Results

Plugin Madness has been running for six years and in that time, amazing winners have been crowned. Last year, first-time competitor FluentCRM really felt the love earning first place.

The winner of both 2020 and 2019 was Elementor, a free page builder that helps designers and developers create anything on WordPress without restrictions. The plugin gives you the power to design on the frontend with real-time results and allows you to spin up beautiful and functional sites quickly and efficiently.

Prior to Elementor’s back-to-back wins, Smush Image Optimization took home the trophy in 2018 and 2017. Smush can help speed up your site by enacting lazy load, and of course, smushing your images and videos.

We couldn’t talk about Plugin Madness without shouting out the very first winner, Advanced Custom Fields. ACF took the crown all the way back in 2016 and has made an appearance on the Plugin Madness bracket every year since.

Voting begins on Mar 7, 2022 and the winner will be announced Apr 28, 2022. Lock in your nominations today and make sure you come back and vote each week to ensure your plugin picks make it to the next round!
